More abuse!

Given what happened yesterday -- see blog post below -- this is a little crazy. Today, a big loud knock on the door. I go downstairs and there's a teenage kid at the door, and another on the sidewalk:

Door Kid: "Hey, we wanna shovel your sidewalk."

Me: "How much do you want?"

Door Kid: "What do you think?"

Me: Pause. Thought. "I'll give you two bucks."

Sidewalk Kid: "Ten."

Me: "Look, I'm a writer. Two bucks."

Door kid: "Come on, five."

Me: "I'll give you two bucks. Look, the snow's really soft, it'll take you ten minutes, less."

Door Kid: "Give us four, two for each of us."

Me: Shrugging. "Sorry."

Sidewalk Kid: "Come on man, don't be a Jew!"

Me: "I am a Jew! You shouldn't talk like that!"

They laugh and walk away.
